Well, the donations
page turned out to be a complete bust with a grand total of zero deposited into our
tip jar. Honestly, I can't say that I blame anyone. I don't remember ever using
any other website's donation page either. :-)So, we're giving Google ads
a shot (see sidebar) in hopes of generating just enough income to cover the cost
of the hosting fees. We hope it doesn't detract from your experience on this
site. Who knows, you might even like some of the products and decide to click on
them.
In other news, we still need help
from HTML web developers who know how to fix our Mac/Linux problem. Got skill? Read
below and help us out. Your fellow Atlanta martial artists will (who use Macs
and Linux) will thank you!

Hope everyone is doing well and training hard. We at the Atlanta Martial Arts
Directory are in the process of making several changes to the site. One of our
administrators has been extremely diligent and consistent about updates. The other
administrator <cough> myself </cough> has not been quite so diligent. With these
changes, I'm hoping to ramp up my involvement again. In other news, we've added
a donations page. We're experimenting with ways to
offset the domain and hosting fees. I'm not sure if it will work or not, but I thought
we'd give it a shot. Consider it a tip jar in case you find this site useful. After
all, we are just a couple of poor martial artists. :-)
On a more technical note, we've had trouble supporting our Mac and Linux users.
The listings on the school directory pages are generated
using XML and VBScript. Apparently, this solution works well for our Microsoft Windows
users but does not work well for the Mac and Linux platforms. The unfortunate problem
is that we've been unsuccessful in coming up with the code necessary to work for
all three. So, do any of you Mac/Linux users have the skill and time to write the
code and help us test it? If so, please contact
us. We would be highly in your debt. Plus, you would finally get to see what the
Windows users have been seeing for the past eight years.
Finally, it really has been eight years since the site was started. Thanks
to all the martial artists and martial arts schools in the Atlanta-area for making
this site a success. We're here for you! (Awww, sniff.. sniff)
